JV girls race to meet championship

The Pius X girls JV cross country team raced in the Lincoln Lutheran Invite at Pioneers Park on Oct. 3.

The JV girls team won the meet, and the runners placed second, third, fourth and fifth with a total of eight girls placing in the top ten.

“The girls ran excellent today,” cross country coach Logan Pfeiffer said. “All the girls contributed today. The girls ran hard, so we’re very proud of them.”

Senior Lucy Willis led the JV team, placing second in the meet although she did not finish with a personal record.

“I placed so I did better than I normally do, but my time wasn’t that great so honestly I’ll take what I can get,” Willis said.

It was a smaller meet, so the boys and girls ran together during the race.

“I think the girls’ team did really well,” freshman runner Eva Haddan said. “We got first!”
