The varsity boys basketball team had their regular season opener in Gretna on Thursday against the Dragons. The Bolts were coming off another state qualifying year in which the team lost in the first round against Bellevue West.
There are many new faces to the team this season including brand-new head coach Adam Brill, and with four out of five starters in last year’s lineup graduating this past May, the team has a lot of new faces getting more opportunities.
Senior Jackson Kessler said, “We’re exited to kick the season off, we can be a great team this year.”
The game ended in losing fashion with the Bolts suffering their first loss of the season by a score of 64-34, but nobody is hitting the panic button. Junior Treyson Anderson led the scoring with 13 on the day followed up by Kessler with 7, and sophomore Parker Kelly with 5.
After the game, junior Adam Searcey said, “It’s not how we wanted to start the season but we still have a lot of games left.”
The Bolts still have a long way to go with the long season ahead. They look to build towards more success.
