Bolts open season against Missouri team

The varsity boys basketball team played their first game of the season on Dec. 5.

“I think this year we should be pretty good, and I am excited for the season,” junior Hayden Huggins said.

They played the Blue Springs Wildcats from Kansas City, Missouri.

“Since we are not in a conference, we are playing teams that are not from Nebraska,” Huggins said.

The basketball team fought hard but ending up losing 69-59.

Many other activities made a winter debut at this basketball game including cheer, dance and band.

“Cheering at basketball is always fun and I am excited for all the home games,” junior Kaelin Ta said.

The dance team performed a special holiday kick routine for the halftime show.

“This dance was super fun, and we got to wear Santa hats,” freshman Mia Schnabel said.

The cheer team cheered on the boys despite the score.

“Even though they ended up losing, it was still fun to cheer,” junior Elaine Ho said.

The pep band played new songs and got the crowd excited and cheering.

“Playing in the band is fun and I really like getting people hype with music,” junior Marcus Roberts said.
