The Pius X Thunderettes hosted their annual junior high dance team clinic on Saturday, March 2.
“I love the clinic because I get to meet a bunch of new dancers,” senior Alison Rempe said.
The goal of this clinic is to prepare incoming freshmen and other junior high students for dance team, and to have an idea on what to expect if they join the team.
“Getting to showcase what we do on dance team to younger students is my favorite thing about the clinic,” sophomore Sidney Stephan said.
The day started with a warmup and introducing everyone to the team.
“Juniors led the warmup and got all the clinic members excited for the day,” Rempe said.
Then the current dance team members taught the new dancers two sideline dances.
“We taught them bananas and cherries, which are sidelines we do at football games,” Stephan said.
The Thunderettes made an effort to welcome the new dancers and try to make them feel included.
“I wanted to try to make them all feel welcomed, so they would hopefully try out for dance team in the future,” Stephan said.
The dancers who attended the clinic got ahead and learned the tryout routine that will be used at this year’s tryouts.
“Teaching the dancers the tryout dance was super beneficial because now they are even more prepared for the tryouts,” Rempe said.
The dance team had a successful clinic and got to meet and interact with 25 young girls who are excited to one day hopefully be Thunderettes.
