Fr. Augustine Reimers’ Theology III classes spent their class a little differently on Monday, Dec. 16.
They enjoyed one of their final days before exams outside playing a class-wide game of theology kickball.
“My students are always asking to go outside,” Reimers said. “They are tired of sitting in desks and playing Kahoot, so I thought of kickball.”
The idea came to Reimers after much thinking about how to have fun and review.
The rules were the same as normal kickball except for one small twist, where he would ask them a question before they kicked the ball.
Students were divided up into two teams chosen by two student captains.
“So far none of my students have gotten a question wrong,” Reimers said.
Junior Chason Richmond believes that his team’s success was due to his amazing captain junior Maddox Easley.
“I really enjoyed playing a review game because of how fun and competitive it was,” Easley said. “The best part was being on the same team as Chason. We were like a dynamic duo and when we get on the field, we’re unstoppable.”
While the game was only for one day, it was widely considered a success.
“It was a great interactive way to get everyone involved but also learn,” Easley said.
Reimers hopes that his methods will be proven effective on his students’ final exams.
“It was a great way to give them a change of scenery and let them be active in class,” Reimers said. “If nothing else, it’s more exposure to the material we’ve been learning about.”
