Campus minister Scotty Sullivan gave a speech on being Simon and helping others carry their cross on Friday, April 4 at the Lenten service.
“I want to make people excited about our faith,” Sullivan said. “Give real advice and encouragement to help people through their pain.”
Sullivan provided a sports photo of the Cubs cheering on their team running to home plate.
“It is a real representation of how everyone will cheer you on as you make your way to heaven,” he said. “Everyone’s hurting, but Jesus’ love, that is the game changer.”
Not only is it a game changer, but it is also a way to live life.
“The goal is to show the face of Jesus to everyone like Scotty said,” senior Gus McCabe said. “Being kind to people, simply acknowledging them if they are having a tough time, it goes a long way.”
Sullivan started something special with everyone to make the community connect with each other.
“That is the ultimate goal in my opinion,” senior Cecilia Oldenburg said. “We are here to be Jesus to other people, help them short term and long term. Help them be better today and get to heaven the next.”
