Spectrum show choir won the Wahoo Court of Champions competition on Feb. 18 for the first time since 2017. Along with winning grand champs, they received recognition for best choreography, best vocals, most effective opener, best male and female performers, and best female soloists.
“When it was announced that we won I was awestruck, absolutely speechless,” said costume representative senior Haley Holmes.
When they were told they won, Spectrum was ecstatic to receive this title. Many got on stage and started chanting “Bolts” with fellow members of Spectrum.
“They handed me the trophy and one of the Spectrum moms got a photo of me raising the trophy above my head,” senior representative Sarah Lang said.
They have been working since July and all the extra practices and practicing on their own finally paid off for this moment.
“It’s nice to have our hard work and hard choreography and hard vocals pay off,” Lang said. “You can win off your talent and not how much money you can throw at costumes and a large band.”
