Russman kicks off Restore for 2025

The first Restore of 2025 took place on Jan. 8 in the Bishop Flavin Gym. Senior Lily Russman was the student speaker.

“The point I wanted to get across for my talk is that we are made for joy and our journey to joy is going to be so much different than everyone’s and this was just my journey to finding that joy,” Russman said.

Russman gave her testimony and at the end led everyone through a meditation on Matthew 14: 22-33. Every student was given a card with questions they could reflect on about the meditation.

“My favorite part was when she led us through the meditation because I think people and speakers often can talk about visualizing their prayer and picturing themselves in this scene, but sometimes it’s a really foreign idea and she did a really nice job leading us through it,” prayer team leader Sr. Benedicta said.

Sophomore choir students Grace de Villiers and Zelie Rutledge sang praise and worship music during the time of adoration after the talk.

“My favorite part of singing was how the Holy Spirit moved through us both and helped me to have an even better Restore than I had previously,” Rutledge said.

This was the first time de Villiers and Rutledge had ever sung at Restore. They both picked the music they were going to sing.

De Villiers said, “My favorite part was being able to bring other people close to Jesus and to use my talents to glorify God.”
