Ministry members attend Duppong documentary

Some of the campus ministry students went to the documentary “Radiating Joy: The Michelle Duppong Story” at the Lincoln Grand Cinema on Nov. 12.

“I thought it was really inspiring how she went through all this pain and suffering, and she still persevered and was still happy and had a good attitude about it,” freshman Sage Beck said.

The documentary was about Servant of God Michelle Duppong. She was a FOCUS missionary who was diagnosed with cancer and died at age 31 on Dec. 25, 2015. Duppong lived a joyful and faith-filled life even in the midst of difficulty and suffering.

Many of the students who went were deeply impacted by her story.

Freshman Gretchen Brodersen said, “I thought it was very good, enlightening, and inspiring and made me want to become a saint.”

Bishop David Kagan announced her a Servant of God in June of 2022. Michelle proved that a couple of kind words and a smile could bring the love of Christ to all she encountered.

“It showed me how you can become a saint in small ways and build your way up,” freshman Margaret Doty said.
