A mask mandate was reinstated at Pius X High School on Thursday.
Principal Terry Kathol sent an email to the parents of Pius X students Wednesday evening.
“Students and adults over the age of two inside our school building are required to be masked,” Kathol stated in his email.
This comes after the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department imposed a mask mandate to start the same day as Pius X’s, making their announcement on Tuesday.
Students at Pius X have quite different opinions on the new rules.
“I think it’s ridiculous,” senior Makenna Adams said.
Senior Nicholas Patzel said that while he was annoyed by the mandate, it may be the right thing to do as hospital beds are filling up.
According to ABC News, the Lincoln-wide mandate will end on September 30, though Pius X has not made an official statement on when the school’s mandate will end.
Lincoln Public School system imposed a mask mandate as well and announced their mandate Tuesday evening according to 1011 News.
