On Saturday, Oct. 7, Pius X marching band performed at their first official festival/competition of the year at Bennington where they received a superior one rating.
They also performed at the recent band exhibition held at Pius X. This event was not judged, unlike the three following performances.
For freshmen, this was their first experience at a high school marching band competition. Freshmen like Brendan Fitzpatrick were really looking forward to it.
When asked if he was excited for it prior to going, Fitzpatrick said, “Yes, you can ask my parents, and my brother.”
Marching band will also be performing for the LPS competition and the State competition, both held at East High School.
Bands are judged and then rated on their performance, “superior one rating” being the best score possible.
While this was their first competition of the year, many students in band said they thought they were ready to perform and would do so well.
For junior Dominic Tran, his expectations were a bit different.
“It’s not fair for any of us to expect any scores, it’s better for us to hope for a score,” Tran said.
The hopes of the marching band were fulfilled after getting the superior one rating they desired.
