Pius X students took part in and watched living Stations of the Cross on Wednesday, April 16.
“I think that doing stations, especially watching it with ‘The Passion,’ really helps you realize how real what Jesus went through was and how much He endured for us,” senior Maya Kane said. “It gives a different perspective on how important Good Friday is for us.”
At each station, two students held up a wooden cross and two students held candles in front of the cross.
“This is our last day of school together before we enter into literally the holiest time of year for us,” Sr. Guadalupe DeWispelare said.
A reflection for each station was read by a student for people to mediate on.
“The reflections were impactful, especially since they were really relatable,” sophomore Emily Bauman said. “They put you into Jesus’ passion.”
After the reflection was read, a clip of “The Passion” was shown. The clip corresponded with the station being reflected on.
“’The Passion’ film is a real wake up call to the reality of Christ’s suffering and the incredible love and mercy that propelled Him to keep going along the whole way of the cross,” DeWispelare said.
There were around 90 students who helped make the living stations possible, the roles included being a cross bearer, candle holder, singer, reader, or helping to set up.
Sophomore reflection reader Thanh Ninh said, “I thought it was really cool because I’ve never been able to do something like this.”
