Grandparents honored at annual Mass

Pius X held their annual Grandparents Day on Oct. 10.

Over 600 grandparents of students attended a presentation, Mass, and snacks to enjoy with their grandchildren.

“I like getting to spend time with my grandmas and grandpas,” junior Brennen Ames said. “It was a lot of fun.”

While students were in class, grandparents were shown a PowerPoint about the new addition Pius X is raising money for.

“It’s important to promote the campaign so we can raise money and awareness for our campaign,” principal Terry Kathol said.

After the presentation, students were released from their classrooms to go to a special Mass offered for all grandparents, living and deceased.

“Even though my grandparents couldn’t make it this year, it was still offered for them,” junior Gabrielle Augustine said.

Following Mass, students were allowed to go with their grandparents to enjoy cookies and drinks.

“I am so grateful Pius offers a day like this for us,” Ames’ grandmother Connie Zender Ames said. “It gives us some extra time to spend with the ones we love.”
