First Friday Mass gives alums and supporters chance to pray at Pius

First Friday Mass for alumni, community members and parents happened for the second time on Oct. 4.

“I think it’s important because our alumni are wanting more spiritual connections back to Pius and we thought this would be a great opportunity for our alumni to come back and lift our community up in prayer,” alumni director Kristin Heath said.

There were about 30-40 people in attendance at Mass on Oct. 4. This included students, staff, parents and alumni. About ten alumni were at Mass, including the staff who are Pius X graduates.

“I love seeing the students in the morning, seeing all the students that are choosing to be there,” alum Jennie Kobza said.

The foundation office initiated this new tradition and organizes it monthly. Jennie Kobza and Kristin Heath, both from the foundation office, were around in the morning to welcome people and Fr. Bernardo was the celebrant at Mass.

“Our faith is central to us, so having a first Friday Mass and inviting the broader Pius community in is a great witness to our students,” chief administrative officer Tom Korta said.
