This week, students in Child Development classes had a chance to lead their class in activities geared towards preschool-aged children.
Students grouped into pairs and planned out lessons to present to the class. The activity concluded the class’s unit on children in preschool.
“To finish our study of preschool children and their development, the students have to come up with these activities that would be appropriate for the age group,” Child Development teacher Amy Shonka said.
Students organized games and other activities for the class to engage in.
“It helps them apply what we’ve done to more real-life situations,” Shonka said.
Freshman Ivan Ortega-Pineda felt the activity taught him a lot.
“I learned how to keep them entertained while still helping them learn,” Ortega-Pineda said.
The activity served to help students put what they had previously learned to use in a fun way.
“I like hands-on learning better because it gives me a better perspective on what we’ve covered in notes,” senior Piper Bryce said.
