Pius Players performed their one act “The Last Illusion” for friends and family to come see on Dec. 1.
They then performed at Gretna High School the following day for districts and received fourth place overall, with a perfect tech score.
The students have only been practicing their 30 minute show for 4 weeks.
The performance includes details about Harry Houdini’s last act and his death. The students also have three magics tricks they do during the show.
Junior Quinlan Olander is part of the crew and is able to watch the entire show while doing her job.
When talking about the magics tricks, Olander said, “They look very cool when pulled off correctly.”
She is also head of lights for the one act, her job was to be in control of the light board for the whole show.
“I was the person who made sure the lights were always looking the way they’re supposed to,” Olander stated.
Another member of the production was senior Louise Pepino. She performed as Celia, Houdini’s mother.
One of Pepino’s favorite parts of the show is hanging out with her cast mates and seeing them all in their costumes and makeup.
“I really enjoy being backstage with everyone,” Pepino said.
