As the fall play approached on October 19-22, members of the crew were hard at work building sets and designing costumes here at Pius X.
When it comes to play production, it’s easy for audience members to focus on the actors seen on stage and overlook the hard work that goes on behind the curtains. Crew members volunteer countless hours of their own time working to make every detail of the show perfect.
“We’re working on hanging up the lights right now, and we’ll be focusing the lights and figuring out the right angles to put them at,” senior Maria Butler said the week before the show.
Senior Madelyn Egelhoff, however, used her skills in other areas to help prepare for the play.
“I am working on the door to the LPAC and putting the hardware on,” Egelhoff said.
Despite the difficulties, the work done on the show can be enjoyable for many of the members involved.
“I appreciate getting to make something and then look at my hard work and say, ‘Wow, I really did something,’” Butler said.
All in all, the crew members agree that the project of putting together the play forms relationships.
“It’s like one big family for us,” said senior Owen Minchow, who has worked as a crew member since freshman year.
