The baking club had their first meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
The club made cake pops and members had the choice of making red velvet, vanilla, funfetti or devil’s food cake pops.
Each of the members split into teams to make the dessert.
All the cake was made beforehand, and the groups chose which cake they wanted, and they chose their icing based off their cake of choice. As in, if the group chose red velvet, they would have buttercream icing.
Sophomore Jennifer Vu was one of the members. Her group chose to make red velvet and buttercream cake pops.
Vu stated, “It was very fun, I think we added a bit too much frosting, but I’ve never made them before.”
The groups crumpled up the cake, added icing, then mixed it all together and finally put it in the freezer.
Sophomore Ivan Vesely was in the same group as Vu.
Vesely said, “I feel like we did a good job even though I think we added too much icing.”
After all the cake pops had finished cooling, the groups put melted chocolate on them and put them back in the freezer.
Baking club leader Vivian Nguyen came around to answer the groups’ questions
Nguyen said, “I think for our first club it went pretty well. I see a lot of community, people mixing with friends they wouldn’t typically hang out with, and I think it was a nice way to start off the club.”
