Scholars and scholarships at Pius X

Happy New Year!

The flow of a school year is in constant motion, with the rhythm of classes, activities, and other events. From the excitement of the beginning of the school year and academic challenges to the anticipation of spring events like graduation and enrollment, each phase brings its own energy and focus. As we roll over into the new calendar year at Pius, thoughts are already shifting toward the next school year. Enrollment conversations for students, which include discussions about academic goals, course options, and future plans, will begin in the first part of February, with class registration starting soon after.

The opportunity for a Catholic education is something to be cherished, as it provides students with not only academic excellence but also spiritual growth, moral development, and a strong sense of community. The impact of a Catholic education within the Diocese of Lincoln is evident in the number of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Additionally, it fosters a profound influence through service in our communities, parishes, and schools.

Pius, as an extension of the Catholic Church, embraces the responsibility of discipleship. For this reason, the opportunity for a Catholic education should be accessible to all families who desire one. With this mindset, Pius and the Diocese of Lincoln have worked diligently to maintain tuition costs among the lowest in the nation. This achievement is made possible through the generosity of our school families, parishioners, benefactors, and supporters.

Even with these low tuition costs, some families may still perceive a Catholic education as financially out of reach. One hidden gem of Pius X is the availability of scholarships for families who might otherwise see affordability as a barrier. For example, one family shared how a scholarship allowed their child to continue attending Pius after an unexpected financial hardship, ensuring their student could remain part of the faith-centered community and excel both academically and spiritually. Each year, nearly 40% of Pius students receive some form of scholarships, totaling almost $1 million.

One of the scholarships available to students at Pius is the Good Shepherd Scholarship. This diocesan scholarship, based on family need, is available to all families sending their students to a school in the Diocese of Lincoln.

Pius also offers a variety of endowed scholarships. More than 65 of these scholarships are named after Pius alumni, parents, teachers, staff, or other benefactors. The generosity of those who established these scholarships reflects the deep support for Catholic education. These scholarships are awarded based on both need and merit.

I ask that you help Pius make all families aware of the scholarships available to students by sharing information about our many scholarships. I also ask that you consider the opportunity to impact a student by making a gift to a Pius scholarship.

The value of a Catholic education extends far beyond academics, fostering faith, community, and lifelong service. It is a value that is well worth the investment. It is through the collective effort of our community that we continue to make this invaluable education accessible to all.
