New teachers this school year at Pius X

Fr. Dale Allder ’13

Allder D

Fr. Dale Allder was born and raised in Lincoln. He was a member of St. Peter parish growing up, and attended school there through 8th grade. Afterward, he attended Pius X and graduated as part of the Class of 2013. Fr. Allder studied chemical engineering for a year at UNL and then entered the seminary for the Lincoln Diocese. After graduating from St. Gregory the Great, he attended major seminary at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He was ordained as a priest in 2021, and his first assignment was being the parochial vicar of St. Patrick in McCook. Fr. Allder’s current assignment is serving as the parochial vicar of the Cathedral, and now teaching Theology III at Pius!

Amy Fendrick

Amy Fendrick grew up in Roswell, Ga., and graduated from Blessed Trinity Catholic High School. She moved to Nebraska to attend college and put down root in her mother’s native state. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2009 with a B.S. in Mathematics and again in 2018 with a M.A. in Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education. She in endorsed in both Secondary Mathematics and English as Second Language. Amy taught for LPS for six years before stepping away to raise her children. Amy student taught at Pius X in the spring of 2009 and is very excited to return to the building and staff that aided in her formation. She will be teaching Algebra II.

Amy and her husband, Chris (’99), have been married for over twelve years. They have three children who attend their parish school and two children out of college. They enjoy spending time at home as a family, volunteering at their parish, and attending their children’s various activities.

Buffy Ryan

Buffy Ryan

Buffy Ryan will be starting her first full year teaching Geometry at Pius X. She taught for half of the year last year, so is excited to start the school year this time. Buffy is originally from El Paso, Texas, and taught high school math for twelve years before taking time off to become a stay at home mom. She is really excited to get back into the classroom and especially values teaching at a Catholic institution. She treasures her Catholic faith and am so happy to be able to share this with students. She is married to Bill Ryan, a Pius alum, and they have five children. Their kids’ activities keep her quite busy, but she does enjoy hiking and spending time outside whenever she can.

Fr. O’Shea-Creal ’13

Fr. OShea Crel

Fr. O’Shea-Creal is the Assistant at North American Martyrs Parish. Fr. OSC was born and raised in Lincoln (St. Teresa’s parish) with his 2 brothers and 2 sisters. After graduating from Pius X in 2013, he attended UNL for two years where he then discerned God’s call to Seminary. He spent 3 years in Seminary at St. Gregory the Great Seminary and then 4 years in Maryland at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary. Father loves playing sports, riding his bike, and learning new skills. He is passionate about helping others come to love the Sacraments and evangelization through teaching. He is excited to teach the senior Theology class and asks for your prayers now and for his future service as a Navy Chaplain.

Fr. Augustine Reimers

Fr. Reimers

Fr. Augustine Reimers grew up in Seward, Neb. He is the third of five children. After graduating from Aquinas Catholic High School in 2016, he entered the seminary the next Fall. He spent four years at St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward followed by four years at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, Pa. After being ordained a priest on May 25, 2024 he was assigned to Blessed Sacrament Parish. Some of his favorite saints are St. Philip Neri and the North American Martyrs. He enjoys watching and playing sports, and is a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Denver Broncos.

Fr. Ranil Weerackoon

Fr. Ranil Weerackoon grew up in Southern California, but moved to Nebraska in 2015 to attend UNL, which ultimately led him to discern the priesthood for the Lincoln diocese. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 25, 2024 and is currently serving as the Parochial Vicar at St. Michael’s Church in Lincoln. Fr. Weerackoon enjoys sports, especially Ultimate Frisbee, tennis, and ping pong.

Jacob Denton

Jacob Denton

Jacob Denton graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music education from UNL in May of 2024. He studied voice as his primary instrument at UNL and performed in ensembles such as Varsity Men’s Chorus, University Singers, Chamber Singers, and Jazz Singers, as well as playing oboe in the symphony orchestra, symphonic band, and oboe studio. He is a current member of Nebraska Festival Singers, National Association for Music Education, and American Choral Directors Association. In his free time, Jacob enjoys competitive cycling, rock climbing, reading comic books, and hammocking outdoors.

Jared DeMers

Jared DeMers

Jared DeMers was raised in York Nebraska and attended York High School where he played baseball, golf and tennis. He was fortunate enough to continue his golf career at Southeast Community College for one season. He then transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to finish his education, graduating with a teaching degree. Upon graduation, he worked as a para at St. Michael and at Highlands Golf Course until he received his first teaching job in Spalding Nebraska at Spalding Academy. Jared taught history at Spalding Academy for the past two years, but God called him back to Lincoln to be closer to family and friends. He feels blessed to have received the ABLE teaching position at Pius X as well as the Head Girls Golf Coach position. He is so excited for what God has in store this year!

Katherine Norman

Katherine Norman

Katherine and her husband Kevin have three kids; Joseph in 9th grade at Pius X, Hannah in 7th and Daniel in 6th grade both at St. Peter. Katherine holds a master’s degree in teaching math and has over a decade of teaching experience in the Lincoln Public High Schools. She stepped away from the classroom to pursue a career as a licensed financial advisor, however felt the Lord calling her in a different direction. For the last four years Katherine has worked as the Parish Manager at St. Peter Church and School, but now is excited to be back teaching and part of the Pius X community!

Katherine Mulholland

Katherine Mulholland grew up in Northern California with two brothers and five younger sisters. She attended Thomas Aquinas College, a classical college in New England, where she fell in love with mathematics, served as an academic writing coach, and earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. After graduation, she married her college sweetheart, Pierce, and taught high school math and literature for a year in Vermont. She and her husband just moved back to his hometown of Lincoln this summer. This will be her first year at Pius, and she is excited to continue her teaching journey here.

Laura Gustafson ’20’

Laura Gustafson

Laura Gustafson is from Lincoln, Nebraska. She grew up in the St. John’s Parish, and is now a parishioner at St. Patrick’s. She graduated from Pius in 2020, then attended the University of Nebraska-Kearney until graduating Spring 2024 with a degree in Art Education. Laura is teaching a variety of arts classes this year, including ceramics, graphic design, and photography. She cannot wait to begin her first year with Pius. Laura’s family includes her husband, State Trooper Sam Gustafson, and their new dog, Penny. Laura loves all things arts and crafts and can’t wait to help students find their own artistic interests as well!

Mark Masur

Mark Masur

Mark was born and raised on a small farm in South Dakota and is the 11th of 11 in his family, 6 sisters and 4 brothers. On the farm they raised hogs and cattle and farmed ground around Geddes, South Dakota. At the University of South Dakota in Springfield in 1983, he received a bachelor’s degree in construction and in teaching, and has been teaching since then. Mark taught in Webster, South Dakota for 16 years, and then at Aquinas in David City, NE for 25 years. Aquinas is his wife, Jeanne’s alma mater. Jeanne and Mark have 3 children Danielle, Mary and Nicholas, all of Lincoln. They have six grandchildren and one grandson on the way. Mark enjoys playing guitar, chess and cards. Perhaps an interesting fact about Mark is that there were 3 religious sisters his dad’s family, so his dad’s sisters were his sisters (wink). Mark is excited to join the Pius family here and to begin teaching our students.

Taylor Brown

Taylor Brown

Taylor grew up in Sgt. Bluff, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa State University in 2022 with a Bachelor’s in English Education. She taught high school English for 2 years in Iowa before making the move to Lincoln this year. Taylor is the oldest of 4 children, and loves spending time with her family. She got engaged over the summer to her fiancé, Sean, and they will be getting married next summer. Her hobbies include reading, working out, and being creative! She is excited for a new journey at Pius X! Go Bolts!
