New Pick Family Scholarship and Endowment
The Pick Family Scholarship and Endowment have been established to help students make their Pius X dreams a reality. Willa Mae Pick, grandmother of two Pius X alumni, invested $100,000 from an annuity to establish the two new funds. The Pick Family Scholarship will assist students in need, and the Pick Family Endowment will assist students with funding their extra-curricular expenses, to enhance their Pius X high school experience.
Don and Willa Mae Pick were married on January 22, 1946 in Breda, Iowa. Together, they balanced farming, cattle buying, owning Pick Grain Company and raising eight children. Their devotion to their children and grandchildren always took center-stage in their lives. They enjoyed traveling, watching the Chicago Cubs and sustaining close relationships with family and friends.
Don passed away on January 25, 2008. He was a faith-filled, generous man who truly lived out his Catholic faith on a daily basis.
Willa Mae lives in West Des Moines, Iowa and has enjoyed hearing from her granddaughters about their Pius X experiences.
Director of Advancement, Courtney Johnson, shared: “We are so thankful for the generosity shown in establishing these funds, and celebrate all those who make our Pius X Family so great.”
