Abbie Allen’s English II class have been studying Julius Caesar. Students participated in a four-corners debate, discussing some of the major themes and discussing whether they agreed or disagreed on major points.
Students were taking part in a Marketing Evaluation for a new menu item! In conjunction with Farm to Table, students performed an evaluation of a recipe they’d tried last week. Donald Costello from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, along with help from Anne Pfeifer, presented to the Computer Science class about Cybersecurity. He taught about Caesar Code, encryption, the history of Cryptography, and Quantum Cryptography. He gave the school a gift of 4 different Cybersecurity textbooks. The teacher is John Zach.

The students in Jenna Steenson’s anatomy classes have been learning about wound types, burns and wound healing. Today (Halloween), they used glue, paint, tissue paper, cocoa powder and coffee powder to make their own ‘wounds’.
If I could bottle up time it would consist mainly of early November days. These days and those of late October are really what the fall season is meant to be. It is the time of transition between the warmer late summer days and the cold days of winter experienced at the end of November.

The Pius X Marching Band earned a superior rating at the State Marching Band Competition last Saturday in Lincoln. It’s the school’s first time earning back-to-back superior ratings at the state, and the third superior rating out of three competitions this year. Dave Ziegler and Joyce Thompson met at Pius X, graduating together in 1967. This year, they celebrated their golden anniversary – 50 years of marriage rooted in faith!
The boys team and two individual girl runners qualified for next week’s Class A State Cross Country Championships! The boys qualified thanks to a second-place team finish. District competitors (with district finish) included Joe Majerus (4), George Ivanov (7), David Krier (8), Maceo Nielsen (9), Tyler Diedrichsen (13), Jacob Winter (14) and Lucas Steuter (15).
Jared Wilhelm chose to teach first, then chose music. It’s a decision that blesses him and our students at Pius X High School.
The Thunderbolts were the runners-up in their district, earning a spot in next week’s state tournament at Norfolk.
