Acting I students discover the world of acting on an introductory level. The performer learns how to use his/her voice, body and imagination to create a character. The student will also learn of other aspects of theater and basic theater history.
This course will offer an introduction to the history of jazz and its contribution to, and reflection of, American culture. The course will consist of a survey of the evolution of jazz from its inception to the present, contributions of important performers and composers, and musical techniques involved in the creation and performance of jazz.
This class serves as an introduction into the world of music, including classical, jazz, pop and musical theater. The class is open to any student with a desire to learn and discover more about the importance of music historically and in our lives today.
Music Theory and History is a class for any student who wishes to gain a greater understanding and appreciation for music. This class will especially benefit the college-bound student. Music theory covered in the class will included music notation, meter, intervals, major and minor scales, triads and seventh chords. Some beginning composition will be covered
This vocal ensemble is open to a small number of students interested in performing classical and other styles of challenging music. The group covers difficult repertoire, sometimes requiring outside work on the part of individual members. Sotto Voce rehearses five times a week as a scheduled class. The Symphonic Band is an auditioned group comprised of musicians from all grades. Senior band students who have successfully completed Concert Band or Symphonic Band in previous years may be able to opt-in to Symphonic Band with their audition. Marching Band includes all band members in grades 9-12. During the marching band season, the band will perform during select football games, marching competitions and parades. This course is geared toward digital photography. Photo competition, displaying prints, and building a portfolio are also major objectives.
Students will learn the fundamentals of photography. The class will cover topics such as history of photography, composition, camera controls, exposure, lighting, ISO ratings, lenses, developing and printing, and self-expression. Fine art photography will be emphasized along with photo journalism.
This course is designed for those students who wish to continue working on traditional and multicultural crafts and arts. Class projects will add variety to portfolios for admission to a college visual arts program. This course is offered concurrently with Folk Arts/Crafts.
This course will focus on traditional and multicultural arts rather than fine arts. Since there is a great variety of folk arts and crafts, this course will be directed somewhat by student interests, but possible projects include weaving, jewelry making, batik, polymer clay, etc.
This course is intended for the art student who is serious about sharpening his/her skills on the pottery wheel and wants to learn traditional hand-building construction methods and advanced glazing techniques. This class is highly recommended for students who are preparing portfolios for admission to a college visual arts program. This course is offered concurrently
This course will focus on 3-D projects with an emphasis on clay. Student will make projects using traditional hand-building methods, and will receive introductory training on the pottery wheel. Additional sculpture projects will use a variety of media, including paper maché, wire sculpture, plaster, etc.

This course will focus on drawing skills and printmaking techniques. The elements and principles of design will be reinforced in activities and projects. Drawing media will include graphite, ink, charcoal, conte, colored pencils and pastels. Printmaking media will include linoleum prints, mono-prints and silk screen.
