Married in 1977

The story: We met at St. Teresa grade school in 7th grade when Chris moved to Lincoln from Iowa. We had our first kiss in 8th grade.

We dated off and on throughout high school. We attended all 4 Turnabout dances and also both Junior/Senior proms. Our relationship flourished at the end of our Senior year and we were married 2 years after high school.

Piux X impact today: Our time spent together in school prepared us to face the challenges of parenting 3 sons before the age of 25 and many more ups and downs throughout life with grace from God.

Life Update: We have both been retired for over 2 years – Kelly from BNSF Railway and Chris from the State of Nebraska. Our 3 sons (Brian ’96, Kevin ’98, & Tim ’99) graduated from Pius and 2 daughters-in-law (Heidi Clyne and Nicole Suiter) also attended Pius X. We enjoy our 6 grandkids – Owen, John, Finn, Maggie, Lila, and Henry. They keep us busy attending sporting events and dance recitals. When we aren’t chasing around the grandkids, Chris enjoys quilting and Kelly has been fortunate to continue doing what he loves which is playing music in 2 bands – The McGovern String Band with his son, Brian, and also a duet with a piano player called Kelly Oh Brian. We’ve been blessed to be able to do some traveling since retirement, and we will celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary this year with a trip to California.
