On November 10, 7th and 8th grade students from Catholic schools across the city took part in a choir lesson and performance.
Pius X choir directors Todd Krier and Shani Sorensen led the honor choir lessons, and at the end of the day, students were able to perform for their parents.
Spectrum Show Choir, Aca Bellas, and Aca Fellas all performed for the students to give them a peek at what the choir department is like at Pius X.
Over the course of the day, the students practiced songs they pre-learned before the day, learned small bits of choreography, and talked with high schoolers in choir.
Eighth grader Charlotte Ekeler from Cathedral chose to go because of her three years in Cathedral choir, and her want for experience at Pius X.
“I thought it was a good opportunity to widen my experience so that I know kind of what I’m going to be doing at Pius,” Ekeler said.
With a variety of options given at Pius X surrounding music, the kids were excited to watch different choirs perform.
Eighth grader An Vu from Cathedral said one of her reasons for going was, “I want to pick up tips from Pius.”
The tips she mentioned she’d like to know about ranged from choir, show choir, to piano and instrumental.
