Pius X is a co-ed Catholic high school in Lincoln, Neb. The school is parochial in nature as it serves 19 parishes in and near Lincoln, providing a Catholic-based, rigorous education enriched with numerous opportunities for students to grow their faith, explore the arts, and participate in athletics and other activities.

UNIFORMS
Uniform Days for the 2024-25 school year will kickoff on June 1 from noon to 4 pm in the school’s new gym. Enter through Door #1. New uniforms will be available to try on, purchase, and order (cash, check and credit card accepted). The Thrifty Thunderbolt used uniform sale will also be available (cash and check accepted). In addition, the Booster Club will be selling Pius X gear. Additional Dates for uniform sales are:- Tuesday, July 30, 9-11am

STARTING THE SCHOOL DAY
For the normal school schedule, classes begin at 9am on Monday, and 8 am on Tuesday through Friday. Students may be dropped off at the school starting at 7:15 am (daily Mass begins at 7:20 am) and the school offers supervised student space in the Commons until 5 pm each school day.

LUNCH / STUDY HALL
Lunch is divided into four sections, A-B-C-D. Students will be in class for two of those, eat lunch during one and have study time during the other. EXAMPLE: A student who has ‘B lunch’ will have 20+ minutes to study in their fifth period classroom, then eat lunch in the commons, then have their fifth-period class.STUDENT COUNCIL

Some choir groups are classes during the school day, and some are activities. Pius X singers, Women’s Choir, Concert Choir and Sotto Voce (tryouts required) are classes, so interested students can sign up for them when registering for classes. Other choirs practice outside of the normal school day. Extra Curricular choirs: Spectrum Varsity Show Choir and Prism JV Show Choir, which rehearse after the school day. AcaFellas and AcaBellas are our men’s and women’s acapella/barbershop choirs/clubs that also rehearse after school and once a week during lunch. Barbershop Club takes place Fridays during study halls (5th period). Choir Camp: Harmony Explosion is a week-long choir camp in July that serves as a great way to meet other choir members and have lots of fun singing a variety of music. Info will be coming this spring.BAND
Band: Marching band is a class that meets first semester and functions as a marching band first quarter and a concert band second quarter. It meets 1st period. During marching season the class starts at 7:30 typically until the end of October. Concert Band and Symphonic Band are classes that meet 2nd semester during the school day. Concert band is open to all students and meets 1st period. Symphonic band is an auditioned concert band that meets 2nd period. Pep Band (Basketball Band and Volleyball Band): Pep band is made up of students enrolled in the band that year. They play popular music at home games and occasionally other events. Jazz Band: Jazz band is an auditioned group that meets before school starting in November. They play 2-3 concerts at home and occasionally perform at events throughout the community. See Mr. Wilhelm for audition material and information in mid-October. Depending on interest, there may be more than one Jazz band so more students can participate. Strings Club: Strings club is Pius’s main strings ensemble. Students of all experience levels are welcome. Strings club meets once before school and once after school each week starting in November. Band Camp: This camp starts a week before school. Student in marching band are required to attend this camp to learn the music and drill for the year’s show.ATHLETICS
Summer workouts usually begin right after Memorial Day. Summer Running begins July 5 and meets daily in the mornings at different places for group runs with other student-athletes. This is especially helpful for athletes interested in cross country (fall sport) and track and field (spring). Here are last summer’s schedules (this will be updated in Spring 2023): BOYS: Grades 10-12 M-T-Th-F, 7-8:15am; Grade 9 M-T-Th-F, 8:15-9:30am; Wednesdays are used as make-up days. GIRLS: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 9:30am-11am, Meet at Tennis Courts Sports Camps: Sports camps start the week of Memorial Day. Check our camps listing here (updates will be made throughout the spring). Tryout: Tryouts for teams vary from sport to sport and occur the first few days/week of the official start of pre-season. Tryout information will be published in the parent newsletter and online starting in the summer.
