Pius X held an open house for the parents of Pius X students on Monday. The purpose of the open house is to help parents gain information about the teachers and classes their children are taking.
“We want parents to put a face to the name and have an opportunity to learn more about the classes their student or students are taking,” English teacher Jennifer Sander said.
First, the parents were offered pizza. Then they were taken to the gym for a talk by Principal Terry Kathol and Chief Administrative Officer Tom Korta.
Afterwards, parents dispersed to their children’s first period classrooms. At each classroom parents learned more about the teachers and how what their classroom policies are.
“It is very important for the parents to also be clear with what expectations are so they can help their child uphold those expectations,” AP biology teacher Jesse Andres said.
The open house is used to give parents an opportunity to ask the teachers questions about their classroom and about Pius X.
“Open house gives an opportunity for parents to learn about a day in the life of their student,” Andres said.
This event is an exciting way to learn more about Pius X and to help begin the school year on a high note.
“I am always excited for a new crop of students, they always bring me so much joy,” Sander said.
