The 2007 Pius X Volleyball team had high expectations coming in to the season having won the 2006 Class B State Championship! Being the returning state champion always puts a target on your back as the “team to beat” and you will get every other team’s best shot, and they did! Obviously winning a repeat State Championship is an outstanding feat in itself, however, their finals opponent, GI Northwest, had beaten the Bolts in 4 sets toward the end of the regular season just a couple of weeks prior. Pius X turned the tables in the televised match winning 3-0 over the Vikings, with the 3rd set being 32-30, and claiming a repeat Class B State Championship!
The 2007 Bolts finished as the #1 team in the All-Class ratings at the end of the season by virtue of the fact that Pius X was 2-0 against the Class A State Champion Papillion-La Vista Monarchs during the ‘07 season. This team is the only Pius X Volleyball team to ever finish the season as the overall #1 team in the state of Nebraska!!
