AcaDeca trip to KC preps team for national competition

Academic Decathlon is nearing the end of the 2022-2023 season of studying The American Revolution. Students visited Nelson Atkins Art Museum where they saw pieces like Ghiberti’s Gates of Paradise, El Anatsui’s sculptural tapestry, and many pieces related to their study including works by Benjamin West, John Singleton Copley, and Gilbert Stuart. After touring the museum the students attended the musical Hamilton at KC Music Hall.

Aca Deca will end their season competing at Nationals in Frisco, Texas at the end of the month and then celebrate the end of the year with a banquet before diving into next year’s theme: Humanity and Technology.

Aca Deca can be taken for just the fall semester or both semesters, by students in any grade. The program sponsors a fall trip that is organized by parents and Ann Kotopka during the summer and a spring trip to Kansas City. Contact Ann Kotopka with questions at ann-kotopka@cdolinc.net.
