Yearbook Senior Picture and Childhood Ads

Message from Nolan DeWispelare, Yearbook Adviser (nolan.dewispelare@piusx.net)

For seniors and senior parents/guardians,

Please take time to read the information below about Senior Pictures, Childhood Pictures for the Senior Video, and Senior Ads for the yearbook. All yearbook-related checks, messages and pictures can be dropped in the box that is labeled “Yearbook” outside the main office or mailed to Pius X, but cash must be mailed to me at Pius X, or delivered to the school’s main office.

Senior Pictures (ALL SENIORS)

Timing: The deadline for senior photo submissions is Friday, October 25. Students whose pictures are missing may not be included in the yearbook. Please ask your photographer to submit in advance if possible. If the Oct. 25 deadline is going to be problematic, please contact Mr. DeWispelare ASAP.

Format: We prefer the electronic submission directly from your photographer in a JPEG format, but we will accept hard copies as well. Files should be sent to nolan.dewispelare@piusx.net – I will confirm receipt within a few days (if you/they don’t hear from me after a few days, that means I didn’t get it).

Photo files need to be at least 600 KB sized files (the bigger, the better) and no larger than 10 MB, vertical images, and please no social media/screenshot images (these will have poor quality in the yearbook). If sending from a phone, when you choose the size of the attachment, select “Actual Size”.

The images will be approximately 2” wide and 3” tall in the yearbook, but yearbook staff members will crop the photos for uniformity. Please do not crop them yourself as we may need the extra room to make photos look uniform on the pages.

Dress Code: All photos must follow the Pius X informal dance dress guidelines. Below are the informal dance dress guidelines from the Pius X handbook:

  • No excessively tight clothing
  • Neckline must be modest and reveal no cleavage. The entire breast area must be completely covered with solid fabric including the space between the breasts. (Hints: Ensuring that there is solid material from the top crease of the armpit and lower will ensure compliance. Straps are not required, but on some dress styles, they really help a dress not to shift downward and become out of compliance.)
  • Stomach must be covered at all times
  • Skirts and shorts must not be too tight. The highest point of the bottom of the shorts/skirt must extend to within 3 inches of the top of the knee. Running shorts do not meet this requirement.
  • The following are unacceptable:
    – Short Shorts-same rule as skirts
    – Inappropriate graphics or words
    – Undershirt tank tops
    – Hats
    – Halter tops or strapless tops
    – Cut out/off shirts
    – Underwear cannot be showing
    – In accordance with Pius X dress code, boys may not have piercings or facial hair in the picture
    – Indoor or outdoor backgrounds are acceptable as long as the background is free of symbols as well.
    – No vehicles may be included in the picture.
    – If any senior wants the Pius X Yearbook staff to take his or her photo, we would be thrilled to help. Contact Mr. DeWispelare by August 30 to schedule.

ALL PICTURES WILL BE REVIEWED BY PIUS X ADMINISTRATION TO ENSURE DRESS CODE GUIDELINES ARE FOLLOWED

Childhood Pictures

For ALL SENIORS are due Friday, October 25.

This is the photo that will be used in the senior video at the senior breakfast at the end of the year. There is no cost to submit this photo. We will accept digital photos and hard copy pictures of your senior’s childhood picture. PLEASE be aware that scanning your own photos may result in images that are not usable for the book or the video. We would prefer that you send the hard copy to us so we can scan it to our specifications and then we will return it to your senior as soon as we are done with it. DO NOT send screenshots from phones as they will not be usable in the video. If sending a digital copy, send the largest file size available.

The Senior Ad in the yearbook is optional. The cost is $40.00 and it must be accompanied by a message of 25 words or fewer. We will use the childhood picture submitted above unless you provide us with another image and specific instructions for use. The check and message are both due Friday, October 25. Please send the check and the message together in an envelope with your student’s name on the outside of the envelope. If we do not have a message and payment by October 25, we will assume your childhood picture is for the video only.

Yearbooks

We are not ordering extra yearbooks this year, so only those who pre-order will receive a yearbook when the yearbooks arrive at the beginning of August following graduation. Be sure to get your order in early so you can check it off your to-do list. Yearbooks are $75 during the first semester and $95 after the new year until orders close on April 1. You can order yearbooks by sending cash/check to Pius X with the student’s name, dropping the order form and check in the Yearbook box outside the main office, or order online at www.yearbookforever.com. The last day to order yearbooks is April 1 – please order now so you do not have to worry about it later!

If you have any questions about any of the items above, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you for reading this information and I hope you have a blessed final year at Pius X.
