The 1991 Pius X Girls Cross Country team was the defending state champion and brought back a strong group of runners, making it the favorite to win the championship again. They did not disappoint, cruising through the regular season of meets, finishing first in seven out of eight meets. At state, the team scored 25 points to win their second state championship in a row, finishing far ahead of the second place team’s score of 80 points!
The 1991 Pius X Boys Cross Country team was not quite the favorite that the girls team was going into the season, but they did finish as the State Runner Up the year before. Team unity was the strength of the team, driving it to an undefeated varsity season. At state, the team was strong, but when a tie at the top presented itself, the tie breaker was the 5th runner on the team, vaulting the team to its 9th state title!
