The varsity boys basketball team defeated Gretna high school’s team 53 to 33, December 18.
It was a close game throughout most of the first half, with Gretna generally being in the lead with Pius X close behind.
This led to the score being 19 to 20, Gretna winning, by halftime.
However, Pius X was able to turn the game around in the second half as they took the lead over Gretna early on and continued widening the gap between their scores until the end.
“I thought we did well, our turnovers were really low tonight. We played together and made our shots when we needed it,” senior Brady Christiansen said.
Christiansen partially attributed the team’s success to senior Sam Hastreiter, who scored 22 points throughout the entire game.
“Tonight, I was just really aggressive, we knew Gretna and that it was gonna be tough,” Hastreiter said, “anyone could have really had a good game, but I just kinda found the gaps, and it ended up being me more.”
