Alumni Educator Profile

Bridget (Hansen) McPhillips

Class of 2012

Grade/Subject/Position: Career Counselor at Scotus Central Catholic
Columbus, NE
When I realized/discovered I wanted to be a teacher: When I look back and see how I was positively impacted by so many teachers and staff at Pius, I knew I wanted to have that same opportunity to play a part in a student’s life.
School memories that impacted how/why I teach: I remember how many faculty members helped us grow in our faith, academically, and in their extracurriculars and that’s what I strive to do with each student at my school!
The impact of my students on me: I get to help students in planning their future! I love to help guide them in figuring out what their talents are, how they can use them, and what their options are after they graduate. It’s a very fulfilling position.
Family Update: Husband, Zach and two kids: Maverick and Gloria
Personal Achievement: My greatest achievement has been raising my family! I love working in a school because I can spend my summer’s with my family and it is fun involving them at school.
My memories of Pius X: My father was a teacher there while I was growing, so I have countless memories of attending all types of sporting events. I also look back and remember the friends I made there and how fun it was to participate in extracurriculars!
