Alumni Educator Profile
Brenna (Zeleski) Dare
Class of 2009
Grade/Subject/Position: Middle School Science at St. Michael
Lincoln, NE
When I realized/discovered I wanted to be a teacher: I had always wanted to be a teacher just like my mom since I was very young. When I was a junior in high school when I decided to apply to be pre-med to colleges. I remember having an “aha” moment in March of senior year and knew that teaching was truly my calling.
School memories that impacted how/why I teach: I am a very introverted person and when participation was required for my grade it gave me a lot of anxiety. In my classroom, I always look for how participation can happen in different forms and know my students don’t fit into a one type mold.
The impact of my students on me: Middle school students have a reputation of being moody or difficult. After spending nine years with them I know they are incredibly bright, hilarious, and empathetic. They really do make me a better person.
Family Update: I married Tyler Dare in October 2017 and had our son Clay in May 2019
Hobbies & Activities: I love reading and couponing.
Personal Achievement: My greatest achievement is becoming a wife and mother.
