Tours of Duty: joined the navy reserve in Oct 1963 while at UNL, I went on active duty in January 1965 at FT “A” School, Great lakes, IL., then on to FT “C” at Dam Neck, VA.. First ship was USS WORDEN (DLG-18) in June 1966, homeported in San Diego, CA; Second ship was USS KING (DLG-10) also homeported in San Diego. My first shore duty was at Naval Station, San Diego, DATC/FMAG. Then another FT”C’ school at Mare Island, Vallejo, CA then to my third ship USS REEVES (CG-24) homeported in Pearl Harbor, HI. In November 1978Â transferred to my forth ship USS LONG BEACH (CGN-9) homeported in San Diego. My second shore duty was at Service School Command, Basic Electricity & Electronics Instructor. In 1982, I was selected and advanced to FTMC. My last ship was USS TEXAS (CGN-39) also homeported in San Diego. I retired in November 1985.
Family: I met and married my wife, Melinda Eune Beever in 1968. We were blessed with 3 children,(first was stillborn), Melody, Norman & Phillip. We had 46 years together before she died from complications of ALS.
