Paul & Rosemary Reinsch Scholarship

Paul W. Reinsch was born in 1928 and grew up in Geneva, Neb. Rosemary A. (Kavan) Reinsch was born in 1929 and grew up on a farm near Wahoo, Neb. Both Paul and Rosemary attend Catholic parochial schools through the eighth grade.

Upon graduating from Geneva High School in 1946, Paul worked for two years at the Geneva State Bank, and then attended Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1951. Paul was commissioned a 2nd Lt. U.S. Army, through the R.O.T.C program at Creighton.

After graduating from Wahoo High School in 1947, Rosemary attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lincoln, Neb. and graduated in 1950. She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln and then St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb. and then at the Fairbury Hospital, in Fairbury, Neb.

Paul and Rosemary met in the fall of 1949 at the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, when he was visiting his sister who also a nursing student. They were married in March of 1951. Afterward, their marriage was blessed with six sons and two daughters. All eight of their children attend Catholic parochial schools in Lincoln and graduated from Pius X High School.

Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1951 through 1953. He spent the majority of his service in Germany. Rosemary was able to be with him in Germany for almost a year and during that time they visited Rome (January 1953), and several family members living in Germany.

Upon completing his service in the U.S. Army, Paul worked as a certified public accountant (CPA) for Miller & Moore CPAs Accounting Firm for 37 years, being a partner in the last 30 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Nebraska Society of CPAs and the AICPA, serving on numerous committees and boards.

Throughout the years Paul and Rosemary have been active in the Diocesan, their parish and various Catholic school organizations. Paul has also been a member of the Serra Club of Lincoln for over 40 years and active in the Knights of Columbus, particularly since his retirement. He enjoys being involved with financial and accounting matters regarding church and school operations.

Excerpts from student thank you letters

“I would like to thank you so much for your generosity in giving this scholarship to help students like myself obtain a Catholic education. I want you to know the scholarship will be put to good use helping pay my tuition as I finish my academic career at Pius X High School. I will do all I can to live up to the expectations you have set for recipients of this scholarship…

During my senior year, I will be taking my first advanced placement class, AP Calculus, which will be a challenge for me. I am also taking Spanish, theology, accounting, psychology, and business law in addition to the other required classes. Along with academics at Pius, I am involved in student council, ambassadors, community service club, and Cathedral GodTeens. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, working at Hy-Vee as a grocery clerk, and volunteering at the Alzheimer’s Association and Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach. I hope all these experiences in high school will help prepare me for college, future careers, and life in general.

I have not yet decided which college I will be attending; however, I do plan on staying in Lincoln. I would like to study elementary education, so I can share my knowledge and gifts with younger children. I think it would be great to someday work at a Catholic elementary school, so I can see each child grow and live their faith.
