Speech class delivers on key public speaking skills

Sophomore students in Larry Logsdon’s Speech Class have been showcasing their skills through demonstration speeches, providing a platform to highlight their growing public speaking abilities. During these speeches, students are evaluated on various aspects, including the timing and content of their presentations. They are also assessed on key elements of delivery, such as articulation, posture, volume, eye contact, and their effective use of note cards.

Throughout the course, students are tasked with presenting a demonstration on a topic of their choice, whether it’s explaining how to pitch in baseball, how to bake cookies, or how to properly cover a textbook. This exercise not only allows students to practice and refine their speaking skills but also teaches them valuable lessons in communication, organization, and audience engagement. By participating in these demonstrations, students gain the confidence and tools needed for successful public speaking in the future.
