Girls basketball beats Blue Springs

The varsity girls basketball team beat Blue Springs High School 64-20 on Friday, Dec. 6.

Starting the first quarter, the Blue Springs Wildcats were making three pointers with full confidence while Pius X was playing with some nerves as it was their first game.

“In the first quarter we were really timid because we were kind of nervous because it was our first, but then we settled in and we ended up finishing the game strong,” junior Ava Markowski said.

The Thunderbolts quickly caught up to the Wildcats and led 26-14 at half time.

“We made some big plays, shot a bunch of layups, and got out and ran and our press created a lot of turnovers, so I was happy with our effort,” head coach Ryan Psota said.

Throughout the game they improved their defense.

“I think we started finishing more and we got more comfortable with the team and communication increased,” Markowski said.

Watching you could see the bond the team holds.

“We started to trust each other more,” senior Ellie Wells added.
