The Pius X varsity girls basketball team beat the Blue Springs South basketball team, who came from Missouri, 65-21.
The game took place on the afternoon of Dec. 7 in the Bishop Flavin Gym at Pius X.
“I think we worked well as a team, and we had good ball movement,” senior Keeleigh Knobbe said.
The girls started the game off strong. At the end of the first quarter, Pius X was rolling 22-0.
“I thought we had a good first quarter and then it led into us just making shots and finishing at the rim,” junior Ava Markowski said.
The girls worked and communicated well with each other. At the end of the first half Pius X led by 29 points.
“I’m proud of our competitiveness and our loyalty to each other, and the way we communicate is something that I love about our group,” Markowski said.
The Pius X team dominated the game, winning by 44 points.
“I’m most proud of how our team is getting better every day,” sophomore Kendal Heimes said.
The team will continue working to improve to prepare for their upcoming games.
Head coach Ryan Psota said, “We will come in Monday morning and we’ll watch film and go through things, good and bad, and reevaluate and see where we need to go because we got a big week next week.”
