FIRST Robotics Team 10476
Robotics is a new club at Pius X, designed to help students design a robot to compete in a FIRST Robotics competition. Students will be tasked with creating a robot that can move around a playing surface and accomplish tasks both autonomously and student-directed to earn points for their team.
Who and When?
Team 10476 meet Tuesdays and Fridays starting Friday, Oct. 25. Meetings will take place immediately after school and in the school. Exact location to be announced. The official build season for FIRST Robotics starts January 4.
Students will have the opportunity to see the parts and begin exploring builds with the First Robotics kit. Attendance at each meeting is not required. Students are encouraged to attend when they can and participate in whatever way best suits their interests. A variety of skill sets are needed to make the robot.
The head coach is Jeffrey Cochran (jeffrey@stingrayts.com) and the lead mentor is Sean Radke (sradke8@huskers.unl.edu). For more information from Pius X, contact Zachary Baehr.
Is there a cost?
There is no fee to be a part of the club. In-kind gifts, personal donations and corporate sponsorships help defray the cost for students. There may be a nominal fee for those students wishing to attend a multi-day regional competition in March. The trip may also include student funds for meals.
Sponsorships
Corporate and personal donations for the club to cover expenses for parts and competition fees can be made via the Pius X Foundation. Donations made be made at any time at PiusX.net/donate, or by check to Pius X High School, 6000 A Street, Lincoln, NE 68510. Include ‘robotics club’ in your online or check donation.
