Boys cross country wins third meet of season

The varsity boys won the Harold Scott Invitational cross country meet on Thursday, Sept. 19.

“The boys ran fantastic today, we improved our times from last week as far as the length of time between our first and our fifth runners,” cross country coach Bill Rice said.

Junior David Krier finished second in the race and junior Joseph Majerus finished fourth. Three other Pius X runners finished in the top 20.

“I was really happy with our third, fourth and fifth runners particularly,” Rice said.

Despite the intense heat, the Pius X varsity boys won against 20 other teams and beat the second-place team by 18 points.

“It was difficult, the hills and stuff, but overall, pretty good,” Majerus said.

This is the third meet the varsity boys have won this season. They also won this same meet last year.

“I just love competing, I like beating people,” junior runner Noah Zach said.
