“Say then with boldness, “’Now I begin,”’ and go forward constantly in God’s service. Do not look back so often, because one who looks back cannot run. And do not be content to begin only for this year…” ~ Venerable Bruno Lanteri
As we embark on the journey of this new school year, it is important to remember the words of Venerable Bruno and remind ourselves to constantly seek to serve the Lord. It was great having all of the students back for our first day. While the summer months of quiet can be enjoyable in a school building, there is an energy when students return that brings to life what St. Irenaeus said when he stated “The glory of God is man fully alive”. We pray that every student, staff and their families have a blessed and fruitful year.
As we prepare to boldly begin the year, I want to highlight some policy adjustments that we have made at Pius X to commit to excellence in all things. First, we are doubling down on our commitment to the dress code and maintaining that standard. Please speak with your students to ensure they understand that all shorts/skirts cannot be rolled and that students are being mindful of their dress. The dress code is a simple, easy way for us to show our commitment to unity and to demonstrate dignity through our appearance within the school. Lastly, the adjustments to our electronics policy. We are committed to keeping school as a place for students to engage with one another and their school itself. Remind students that if electronics are seen or heard during the school day, they will receive a demerit and may lose the device. We want students to connect with each other and form a strong community and friend group while at Pius X.
We also have many opportunities for partnerships with parents to participate in and enhance the lives of the students at Pius X. One area we are always in need of assistance is in our booster club running concession stands. Volunteer sign-ups can be found under the “Activities” tab on our website by clicking “Booster Club”. There is also information regarding all levels of booster membership on the website. Also, be on the lookout for an email coming soon with other volunteer sign-ups. When considering opportunities to volunteer, please remember the words of St. Thomas Aquinas, “without work, it is impossible to have fun”. All volunteer efforts provide opportunities for students to more fully enjoy student life at Pius X.
Thank you for choosing to be a part of the Pius X community. Whether this is your first year or you are a family of multi-generation Bolts, we are blessed to work with you to provide the most excellent high school experience for our students. May God Bless you throughout the year and be assured of our constant prayers for you and your family.
St. Pius X, pray for us!
