Sacrifice and Catholic education at the heart of Reinsch gift

Paul W. Reinsch, Sr. was born in 1928 and grew up in Geneva, Neb. Rosemary A. (Kavan) Reinsch was born in 1929 and grew up on a farm near Wahoo, Neb. Both Paul and Rosemary attend Catholic parochial schools through the eighth grade. They were married in March of 1951, and were blessed with six sons and two daughters. All eight of their children attended Catholic elementary schools (Blessed Sacrament and Cathedral) and are Pius X graduates.

Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Upon completing his army service, Paul worked as a certified public accountant for the accounting firm Miller & Moore CPAs (now BKD) for 37 years, serving as a partner for 30 years, and as past president and treasurer until his retirement in 1990. After graduating from Wahoo High School in 1947, Rosemary attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lincoln, Neb. and graduated in 1950. She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln and then St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb. and then at the Fairbury Hospital, in Fairbury, Neb.

Parishioners of Cathedral of the Risen Christ, Paul and Rosemary have advanced the mission of Pius X and numerous Catholic and community organizations in Lincoln through many years of dedicated service and leadership. Paul and Rosemary’s ongoing investments in Pius X span decades, including support for capital improvements, establishment of the Paul and Rosemary Reinsch Pius X Scholarship Fund for Cathedral students in 2007, and membership in the St. Pius X Legacy Society. They were honored as Pius X Distinguished Stewards in August, 2019.

One of the families whose son received the Paul and Rosemary Reinsch Scholarship expressed their gratitude to Paul and Rosemary, sharing that they are “constantly seeing God’s blessings in our lives in so many ways. Your gift to our son and family is one of those blessings. Often we are reminded that our ‘big’ family is truly a ‘really big’ family. Each person whom we sit next to in the pews of [our parish], the friends our children walk with down the halls of the grade schools or the teachers who teach and encourage our children in the classrooms at Pius. We are all one family in Christ, praying for and working with each other to provide a faith filled foundation.” The Paul and Rosemary Reinsch Scholarship has awarded $17,045 to support 31 students since the 2007-08 school year.

Paul passed away on December 15, 2019 at the age of 91. Paul’s designation of Pius X as a beneficiary in his life insurance policy, joined with memorial gifts, have increased the Paul and Rosemary Reinsch Pius X Scholarship Fund by more than $25,000, substantially expanding the future impact their scholarship will be able to make in students’ lives. Rosemary shared, “In raising our large family and educating them in the Catholic school system and beyond, we were keenly aware of the sacrifices necessary to do so. Therefore, we are hopeful our contribution will help other families with a quality Catholic education as fruitful, and the children can go on to fulfill their individual lifelong dreams.”
