Katie (Montgomery) Havlat ’03
Katie (Montgomery) Havlat had a highly successful basketball and soccer career at Pius X. She gives credit for her love of sports and competition to growing up with brothers who always pushed her to be better and tougher. She was surrounded by a great group of talented coaches and teammates at Pius X that helped her achieve some of the highest honors in the state. During her time at Pius she was a four year starter in both basketball and soccer. Although, basketball was her top sport, she really enjoyed her time on the soccer field being a part of District Championship and State Tournament teams. In soccer she was a 3 time All-State Honorable Mention selection and two time All-City Selection.

Katie received a full-ride scholarship to play basketball at the University of New Mexico. She was a four-year starter at point guard and lead her team to 4 consecutive Mountain West Conference regular season championships, 3 Mountain West Conference Tournament championships, and 4 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. She was a 3-time All- Mountain Conference 1st team selection and lead the nation in 3-point percentage her junior year at 51%. She earned a degree in Business Administration and went on to get her Masters in Sports Administration from Wichita State University. She has coached at the college and high school levels but now is committed to help coach her kids at the youth sports level. She has been married to her husband Brian for 15 years and they enjoy raising their 8 children on their acreage outside of Lincoln.
