Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School

Vocal Music

Men’s Choir and Women’s Choir DO NOT require an audition. JUST SIGN UP on your schedule!

If you would like to be considered for an auditioned choir, email the directors. Please include your first and second choices of choirs you would like to join in the following school year. We do our best to accommodate, but we also try to put students in the choir that best suits their personality and musical aptitude! To set up an audition please email Todd Krier or Shani Sorenson at todd.krier@piusx.ne or shani.sorensen@piusx.net.

Cantabella (Advanced Women's Choir)

Placement is determined by student preference and high proficiency level on midterm singing and theory evaluations in March of the previous year.

If students have not participated in choir previously, they must have taken band or piano lessons at some point OR must demonstrate some knowledge of basic music theory.

Concert Choir - (Advanced Mixed Choir)

Placement is determined by student preference and high proficiency level on midterm singing and theory evaluations in March of the previous year.

Students must have been in choir at least one semester or must demonstrate exceptional musicianship.  If they have not participated in choir previously, students must obtain a letter of recommendation from a previous voice, piano, or band instructor.

Sotto Voce (Mixed Acapella Choir)

Based on preference and only after midterm singing and theory evaluations are complete, the first call-back list will be POSTED for those students who qualified for the audition.

Due to its small size and the complex repertoire, students must demonstrate high proficiency in music theory, vocal independence and clarity of tone.

On March 28, the first callback list will go up, students will receive a song to learn over the weekend, and they must be able to sing in a quartet from memory on April 4.

Students who perform at a high level will make callback #2 which will be posted on April 6, and students will come Monday, April 9 for the second round, choral sight reading.

Students must have been in choir at least one semester or must demonstrate exceptional musicianship. If they have not participated in choir previously, students must obtain a letter of recommendation from a previous voice, piano, or band instructor.

Students are required to attend Summer Harmony Explosion Camp.

sotto voce choir
